Lifelong South Fulton resident Emilia Walker was recently named city attorney for the city of South Fulton.
According to a news release, she was raised in the south Fulton area, attending A. Philip Randolph Elementary School, Camp Creek Middle School and Tri-Cities High School.
Walker has an extensive law background and brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role, the release stated.
She has negotiated millions of dollars in government contracts and successfully defended several government clients before municipal, magistrate, state, superior and federal courts, including the Georgia Supreme Court.
Walker said she is looking forward to her new role and the opportunity to serve citizens.
“I am excited about the prospect for this amazing city’s progress and growth, as well as helping to facilitate and implement the comprehensive plans and goals set forth by mayor and council,” she said in a statement.
Walker is a partner at Fincher Denmark LLC, a local government law firm.
She earned her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law and was honored by the Florida Supreme Court for winning the state’s largest appellate lawyering competition.
Walker earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Georgia.
She is a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, which in 2013 gave her its Outstanding Commitment to Public Service Award.
